I have an Oday 9ft dinghy which I am trying to find info on. It came with our Allied Seawind years ago & has been sitting every since. I hope to restore it in the future but I am hoping someone can direct me to where I can find info on it. I am not exactly sure when it was built but late 60's to early 70's would be a good time frame. Joe

More info?

When you say dinghy do you mean it in the sense of a tender to your larger boat or do you mean a small sailboat like a sunfish? Justin

Re ODay Dinghy

Nope this is a 9ft tender with sail, dagger board, rudder & oars. I know it is an Oday because years ago there use to be a plastic Oday tag on the port quater. Unfortunatley there are no other identifying marks or serial #'s.

Rod Johnson,

9' or 8'?

If this dinghy were 8' long, I'd say she was a "Seven/Eleven" a 7' 11" dinghy made by O'Day in the mid 1960's to early 1970's. The 7/11 was sold both as a rowing model and a sailing model. The O'Day Unofficial Owners Web site has a 1968 O'Day Sales Brochure posted, and the 7/11 is in there. I've included a link to that brochure. You may have an older O'Day-built dinghy from the late 1950's early to mid 1960's. These dinghies were built by Marscot Plastics for O'Day. I don't know the lengths, but the "Royalite Rowboat (available as a sailboat)", and the "Marscot Sailing Dink" both appear to be about 9' long. I got this from an old ad for O'Day in the January 1959 YACHTING Magazine. Hope this helps?

7/11

It looks exactly like the 7/11. Guess I was off on the length. Does anyone know where I could find a line drawing or something similar. This dink has see much better days & I would like to restore her in the future. Thanks for all the help!!

Rod Johnson,

D & R Marine?

I would think that it would be worth a call to Rudy at D & R Marine (508) 644-3001. No guarantee that he has info on the 7/11, but you just might strike paydirt. The other option would be to find another 7/11 owner and get the shape with patterns off their boat. O'Day of Japan claims to be still building the 7/11, they might have some info. I don't have their web-site handy, but a search on "O'DAY" may get it.
