O'Day 40 Galley Sink Stoppers

While the odds are slim, perhaps someone has had a similar problem and can help me out. My 40 has dual sinks. The sink drains are smaller than anything you're going to find for shoreside use, and they came with two stoppers that consisted of a metal basket, a rubber stopper with four lugs on the bottom, and a little button that held the rubber stopper to the basket. Unusual design, but they worked. Until my wife, cleaning the galley after dinner one night with too much zeal, swept them up with the trash and threw them out. I've been to every plumbing supply store around my home and have concluded I'm not going to find replacement stoppers in a plumbing supply house. And it is a bit hard to call or write O'Day looking to find from whom they purchased these things. Anyone know where replacement stoppers might be found?

Rubber Bungs

I can't help you with the exact replacement, but if it's just a rubber stopper you want to plug the drain may I suggest a rubber bung from a laboratory supply company. I have dozens of them at my lab, in sizes increasing in fractions of an inch, from about 1/2" in diameter up to a 4" or so (#1 up to #12). They are used to plug glass vacuum vessels or narrow neck flasks. If you give me a rough diameter I can send you a few sizes to try. You can reach me through the owners email registery on this site. Bungs

Thanks; I have a couple of what the hardware store calls "stoppers" (and I call black rubber corks), and they work well enough, but I'd like to find replacements for the original stoppers/strainers if I can.
