The rudder bearing on my 37 cc is on its last legs. Does anyone have any advice on: 1. What does this bearing look like 2. Should I replace with a Delrin sleeve? 3. Should I just do the West system graphite epoxy injection job? 4. What is procedure. Thanks to all for the help!

My 37 is a 1979 I believe. The rudder has a lot of play, around 1 inch at bottom. It still functions smoothly, so nothing seems to be broken or otherwise amis.

Call Rudy at D&R Marine. You can Google the site and get the phone number. You could email him but my experience and hearsay are that he ignores email but is quite chatty on the phone. Is the rudder leaking water? There is supposed to be a grease fitting on the collar inside the boat. The one on ours was badly done and fell out. Doesn't seem to have had any affect.
