Oday 35 Cutlass (Cutless) Bearing

Does anyone know the specs or replacement number for an Oday 35 cutlass bearing? I am about to get hauled to replace it and would like to have the replacement in hand once the boat is on stands.

I'm sure it is just a standard 1" diameter cutlass bearing. I've had mine replaced twice but had the yard do it each time. Popping off the propeller is a bigger trick than I thought so I let the yard with the right tools tackle it.

Go to Buck Algonquin (sp?) and look under 1" shaft. I think we have their strut.

I have prop puller and the strut pro bearing tool along with a few cans of PB blaster so I should be set, just hoping for a part number or inner and outer diameters so that I can get her hauled and splashed in realtively short order. The shaft is 1 inch, so would that be the 1 1/4 outer diameter or 1 1/2 inch?

My current bearing is about 7 years old, but only 4 years of use...was stored ashore for 3. Just noticed during a bottom wash that the prop shaft has a little wiggle in it. Figure that when I get it blocked I can accomplish a wax job, stuffing box repack, cutlass replacement, zinc replacement and thru-hull replacement in about a week. So any parts collected up front is time in my pocket.

Don't forget the two set screws on the side of the strut that screw into the cutlass.

If the shaft is 1 inch and the OD was only 1.25 inches then the thickness of the rubber and the brass would only be 1/8 of an inch combined. My observations reflect it is thicker than that so I'd suggest but don't know for sure that the 1.500 OD will be the one you want.

I cheated and ordered both. Defender has a good return policy, as long as I don't try to install it and then send it back.
