The sanitary tank vent lines on my oDay322 are designed to fail. Maybe yours are too.
The PO simply and illegally pumped over the side and hid hundreds of really smelly cover ups to mask the smell.
The issue is simple. The sani-tank is on the starboard side under the quarter bunk. and BOTH vents come out the top of the tank (as expected) and then drape down to the deck before crossing to the port side and up to the too small hull vent. Kinda like the vent trap in your kitchen sink and bathroom bowl.
Assuming your boat moves, the liquid must get trapped in the vent lines as they drape down across the deck creating a solids trap in the lowest part of the line.
Over the winter I'm pulling the tank and venting each to the starboard side one fore and one aft, in the hopes that the thru ventilation will allow the tank to vent.
I'll let you know how it goes come summer.
Your thoughts?
