ODay 322 Bilge Hose Replacement

My 1987 Oday 322 bilge hose split and I am trying to replace it. This is the 3/4 inch hose which runs from the electric bilge pump to the stern drain fitting.

I have the new hose and fastened it to the old hose so I could pull it though the underfloor from the bilge back to the stern area by pulling on the old hose, but the old hose must be clamped somewhere, because I can not pull it out. Has anyone replaced their bilge hose and have any suggestions on how to do it.

The hose is free from the engine area back to the stern, it must be clamped somewhere between the bilge and the engine compartment.

Any help would be appreciated.

A little more info. I have never looked under the cabin sole in the galley area, it appears to be glued down. I did try to pry it up to see if I could access the bilge hose, but I was afraid the wooden panel would break and gave up.

The sole is caulked down in the galley area. there is fiberglass sole underneath the wood sole. There is a hole to access this area (4 inch diameter) under the wood. I would bet that it is sliptied to other hoses. The peice of sole between the galley area and the bildge cover should be unscrewed and pulled up, you will see where it is tied off. This peice of sole should not be caulked down and there is a chamber under there.

The cabine sole on either side of the bildge and the galley area at the bottom of the companionway is caulked down to a solid fiberglass subfloor. Removing it will destry the wood and grant access to nothing.

I did try to lift the flooring in the galley area. The flooring is a single piece which extends from the port side NAV station to the starboard side by the oven. The wooden flooring appears to be securely bonded to the fiberglass (either caulk or adhesive) and while I could lift it slightly with prying bars, I could not free it and the effort appeared to be on the verge of breaking the panel into pieces. There were no screws securing the boards to the floor, it was totally bonded.

If this is the only way to free the old hose, I guess I will have to break up the flooring. Although the idea of running a 5/8 in diameter rubber hose through the 3/4in diameter bilge line might be possible and I am considering the feasibility.

Did you remove the the 1 foot by 2 foot peice just in front of the galley torward the compression post? It is the one between the galley and bilge cover, it should only be screwed down. There is a space under there where the hose gets bound up. Prying up the galley area around the companionway will get you nowhere since it is solid fiberglass under there. I had my cabin sole completely pulled up and replaced six weeks ago, and there is no way to pull up the caulked down panels without destroying them.

We must have slightly different models. My 322 does not have a seaprate 1x2 ft piece by the galley. Just 1 big wooden floor panel that extends from the NAV station all the way over to the oven.

not in the galley. It is just forward of the galley before the bilge access.

I will take a couple pictures of the floor panels on my boat. The small panel roughly 1ftx2ft fwd of the roughly 3ftx6ftgalley/companionway panel which is on the centerline of the boat does not open to an area with the bilge hose. there is a small well under that panel which drains into the bilge but that is all. The bilge hose exits the bilge area to the starboard side about even with the rear keel beam bolt. it appears to travel under the battery shelf (which does not look removable) and then apparently under the galley sink and is next seen on the port side of the engine travelling to stern.

They routed yours differently. I hope you can get to it without destroying your floor.
