My anchor light is out. I have the original 1986 masthead light - it lasted 30 years! I really don't like going up the mast. Can anyone tell me if I have to replace the entire light with something standard from this site or West Marine? Or of it's just a bulb, what bulb to buy? I'd like to go up there just once. Thanks much in advance.

It might be best to replace the fixture, in case the lens has crazed, but I'd also be prepared to replace just the bulb. If the fixture is anything like the one on our '85 28 it's held down with stainless screws into the aluminum mast top. There's no separating those dissimilar metals while 40' in the air.
Sorry, no. That was our previous boat and we last replaced the bulb about 4 years ago.
Hi, I visited West Marine today and see that the anchor light hasn't changed in 30 years, much to my surprise. I'm glad this is a non-issue. Thanks for responding, David.
