Hey Max,
Currently redoing the cushions in my 27 footer. The Marine fabric I got is "Top Notch" from Rochford Supply out in Minnesota. To do all the cushions I measured at 22 yards. The fabric comes 60 inches wide and then by the yard. I purchased 25 yards since they gave a discount of 4.88 a yard on 25 plus. These were seconds and I can't see a difference if any there isnt a enought o jsutfy going the $7 for firsts. of course the colors are limted with a pacific blue, Navy blue and a white. being offered. I am using the old cushions.
I'm just getting started but for the money saved it should come out well.
I am slowly removing the old fabric with a seam ripper and then going to iron the removed pieces and use them as cutting patterns. The Vee Birth cushions are foam actually cut on and angle so the patterning is important so they fit nice and snug. Then I will just lay them out and mark with a sewing pencil.
even though the thread will not show I am goign to match the thread as close to the color of fabric.
The foam on mine even though 30 years old is pretty good with some obvious compresion. To correct that and get them back to a full 4 icnh thickness I am going to wrap the foam with marine batting. Its really just nothing more than dacron batting that is water resistant.
I purchased needles to use with leather figuring this would allow less stress on the machine when sewing.
Also instead of zippers I am using industrial strength Velcro to seal the insert side. The orignal zippers are so corroded it is doubtful new ones even nylon coated would last long. So I am trying the velcro idea. About the only adivce I can give than what I am alreayd doing is to use beeswax to coat the theared areas to promot water resitence and take your time.
As for buying fabrics and supplies most good seing supply center carry most of what you need and at a fraction of the cost that a marine fabric place will charge.
other than the fabrics I think.
Lots of places to look at for supplies give Rochford a try when looking. For the money the "Top Notch" will work for me.

Dakota, thanks for the info. I'm not sure that we're up to the sewing ourselves but the price/dealer on the fabric is a lot of help. I am looking for someone local who might help us with the sewing so if you don't mind sending a progress report, I sure would appreciate it! Thanks again, max
