....so at the end of last year I noted some movement of the tiller head at the top of the tiller tube. Anyone repair before? I am thinking:
1) dig hole in VERY frozen ground beneath rudder
2) drop rudder
3) push rudder back up, and dig DEEPER hole in still VERY frozen ground
4) remove rudder
5) measure and order bushings
6) return or adjust bushings
7) repeat 5-6 a few more times
8) Call it close enough for the season -or- submit it is unrepairable

Seriously though, if anyone has repaired and knows if it is typically a bushing, rudder tube glass repair, or ???

Rudy at D&R may have the correct size bushings for you so you shouldn't have to repeats steps 5-6 as many times, but steps 1-2-3 are about correct. May want to add a 4.5 and a 6.5 step to cover the hole whilst the rudder is removed less someone steps into it.

During the 1-2-3 steps you may want to through some cautions about being mindful that you don't use your rudder as a backstop for the digging tools, less you add to your repair task list.

OK Apex here we go. There are two delrin spacers, one at the top under the rudder head and one at the bottom between the hull and rudder. Ideally they should not allow for any play up and down in the rudder. Good luck with that. The more critical spacer is the bottom one. This prevents the rudder from rising up to contact the hull. So here are some pictures to better understand the setup. Not a bad little project actually.
