Hi
I noticed a leak around the starboard cockpit scupper drain tube - water was collecting in the hollow just in front of the dripless shaft seal - the boat was on the hard for the winter. After rebedding the scupper drain tube and checking for water tightness, I noticed the scupper hose had a hole in it just below the drain. I then also noticed another hole way towards the scupper outlet on the transom. Time to replace the whole tube. One problem, how to undo/redo the clamp at the transom end. When in the quarter berth, there is no way for me to reach the clamp, I just cant fit in the gap far enough even with the batteries out (I also have that extra engine bulkhead panel removed). With the hot water tank, AC compressor and 12v refrigeration in the lazzarine, there is no way for me to fit in there. With a 3ft 1/4 in square rod with a 1/4 drive universal joint to a socket (all taped in place), I could probably get the old clamp undone, but it could be impossible to tighten a new one that is loose around the tube.
Has anyone had to get access to the clamps on the transom outlets? How did you manage it? I dont have any small thin relatives who can help out and may have to let the yard figure it out ($$$).
thanks in advance
Chris
