I've recently acquired a used oday 28. It was first sold in michigan and was moved to the gulf coast a few years ago by the previous owner. I've been examining the boat in fine datail and have discovered that water dripping through the packing gland accumulated under the engine pan rather than going in the bilge. I cannot find a drain anywhere. what am I missing?

Separate bilges?

My engine bilge doesn't drain to the main bilge, either. I have two separate pumps and lines. I think it's to prevent oily water from being automatically pumped overboard. Kevin

Same here.

O'Day 26...Pan under engine catches the water from any leak around the stuffing box. It would have to be alot of water to overflow to the main bilge. Either a 2nd pump or a weekly sponge bath is in order:)

oday 28 bilge

HI. PETE. I have a 28 1985 and the other two posts say the same thing there isnot a direct drainage hole from the engine pan to the main bilge there has to be approximate 1 1/2 inchesof water to drain to the sides into the bilge. I dont have any water problems I use to do put a sponge in the pan to catch any water I check it all the time. If you have any other questions be free to ask me or any other 28 onwers My email is ekleinert@gwi.net Frederick PIERCE
