I just bought a 1983 O'Day '28. I need to find a part for the diesel exaust system. It is a piece of steel pipe that screws into a 90 deg. elbow that leads to the exaust manifold of my Universal diesel engine. This segment of pipe has a 45 deg. nipple welded to it for the spent engine coolant to mix with the diesel exaust. If anyone knows where I can buy this part please let me know. Thanks, mark

Mixing Elbow

The first replacement part on most diesel's will be the mixing elbow. You can pay big bucks to an after market supplier for one, if you can find one for your engine type. Or you could have one made by a good welder/pipe fitter. All that it is, is schedule 80, black pipe. Tap in a fitting for the mixing water and your good to go. National suppliers you could contact are Torresens marine, or Mack Boerring (I could be mis-spelling that). Know your engine manufacturer, H.P., and type. Also check out the archives here, there is lots of info. on mixing elbows. Don
