ODay 28 Anti-Skid???

My husband and I purchased a used Oday 28 in Feb. 2003. The prior owner had chainplate repairs done, and the anti-skid they used was a pale gray. The existing anti-skid is a brownish beige molded in rubber color. I painted the squares with Interlux's Beige anti-skid, and now it looks YELLOW! Has anyone found a match to the brownish beige anti-skid on the ivory fiberglass hulls??? I HATE IT! I'm hoping to find a match, or perhaps something that will match the ivory hull... It's a real eyesore, and worse NOW than when it was gray!

HI, Sharon & Kevin. I have the same boat in looking through the website I see your hull number is two numbers from mine. My number is 624 built the same time. Refering to the anti-skid I would call Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine if you don!t know about Rudy he was with Oday for many and he bought the rights of Oday his phone is 1 508 644 3001 he is in Assonett MA. I owned an O'Day 22 until this season where I moved up to an O'Day 28. The non-skid colors are the same. Before I sold my 22 I did chainplate repais and needed to repain the non-skid. I looked for a long time trying to find the original color with no luck. Itried to match the color using Petit and Interlux color charts. The only color that came close was an Interlux gray. But they don't make it anymore. I settled on Petit's Easypoxy "Pearl Gray". I taped and painted using the roll and tip method . And Guess what...It loOKS great!!! It is not 100% the same color, but it looks very good on the O'Day. I was kicking myself for not doing this sooner (LIke before I decided to sell the boat)Good Luck,Mike C.

Sharon-My 28 O'day needed some touch-up work a few years back so I took the little "lazaret" cover off at the starboard cockpit end and took it to a fiberglass guy who mixed up a pint of paint on the spot. It matched perfectly and I have lots left over. As I recall it was five bucks for the pint a bit pricy but I only needed a small amount. There are lots of fiberglass repair folks around and if they can't help a custom automotive paint shop should be able to help.Taking the cover with you gets you the current sun faded color not the original bright color which won't match at all.Good Luck,MikeS/B Pitterpat, Lake Huron
