I have seen similar sized boats moved on flatbed trailers on wooden cradles. After the boat was loaded at the marina we talked to the owner who was moving the boat several hundred miles. We felt the whole process fit into the "accident waiting to happen" category. Stresses on the wooden cradle, fastening the cradle to the trailer, fastening the boat to the cradle.......All those concerns looked like the seeds of disaster. Just storing the boat on a wooden cradle might be OK.
When we were planning to buy our boat we looked for a used sailboat trailer to store it on. After getting aboard the boat and considering the mast lowering difficulties, the problems that might be encountered at the launch ramp, and the size of the boat we would be hauling over the road we decided that boatyard haulout and storage would cost more dollars in the long run, but would be cheaper in terms of potential headaches. We have not regretted the choice.
