Can anyone explain the difference between the oday 272 and the 272LE. I am currently trying to compare them to the oday 26, which I am familiar with. thanks

We looked at a couple of 27's when we were in the market and one of the owners told us it stood for 'Luxury Edition'. I don't know for sure if it is true or not.

272 vs 272LE
The 272LE is the luxuary edition of the 272 and is the 272 with all available options including inboard diesel, wheel steering, hot water heater, double life lines, grey hull color, shore power outlet, & clear lexan hatchboards. (The list of differences in in the back of the 272 factory manual). Check the site archives for previous posts on the 272 differences, I recall this has been discussed. Also, really compare 26 vs 272 differences (there is also a 27). I appreciate the 2'11" wing keel on my 272 for shallow water sailing in the Chesapeake Bay. I like the tiller on my 272 (made me a better beginning sailor than a wheel would have) and mine does have the inboard diesel so there are regular 272s out there available with some of the LE features. She looks good Pete. That's just north of the Manhattan bridge, yes? Especially when I lived in Manahttan, I can't tell you now may times I would drive on the FDR and see a sailboat on the river, wonder where they were going, and think how great it would be to be there instead of where ever I was headed (usually to my office on LI). I watched the last OpSail from the roof deck of my apt. building where I had a fantastic view of the Hudson from the Verazanno up to Jersey City. Really nice. I still love to have dinner occcasionally at the restaurant in Wagner park - you can sit outside and watch the chartered schooner and all the sailboats from the Manhattan Sailing Club out of North Cove. It was really tempting to put Little Oob in North Cove, but the monthly slip fees come close the value of my boat. Maybe when I win the mega millions. (sigh)

Brad: Right you are about the Manhattan Bridge. The shot was taken by another ODay owner as we convoyed up to City Island last year for the inaugural rOnDAYvous. As for your own photo link, is that the view from your apartment? If so could you adopt me and include me in your will? Whew!!! Pete

Yes, that was a view from my apartment building. Just imagine that filled with sailboats moving up the river during OpSail. I vividly recall one 45 footer with a bright multicolored genoa, and right behind her a 50 footer with an enormous American flag that spanned most of the backstay. It was quite something. Alas, I had to share that view from the roof deck with everyone else in the building. I had a small view of the river, but it was considerable less dramatic. If I could afford to have a view like that to myself I would have stayed. And not to put down my O'22, but I also would have gotten a much bigger boat AND put it in North Cove. Now I have a less, um, vertical view on Long Island. It was a trade off - look at other people's boats, or live close to mine. I took the live-close option. I do miss the city, though.
