On the recent Gordon hurricane non-event, my stern doc line parted and allowed my boat to swing into my slipmate. A little chipping of gelcoat around the rubrail, plus some damage to the sheer stripe. Boatyard looked at boat (primarily for matching chipped gelcoat) and started talking about replacing rubrail. D&R has rubrail, but not insert.

Has anyone replaced rubrail/insert on a 272?

We have replacd the insert, but we did get it from Rudy at D & R many moons ago.....the metal portion on our rub rail was
fine, but there were leaks thru the holes where the rub rails were attached....according to issue it was a problem that occured when the boats were being built at the factory; i.e. one rub rail would be started but the holes would not match those already drilled at the factory? and then they would start over, but the holes might not match the original holes and they would miss filling some of the holes....once we took the entire rub rail on one side off, we could then fill the 'mistake' holes filled at the factory....seems like a holy mess to me...but we did get it fixed....this is probably not your issue......Pat
