Years ago my friend Mike bought a 1986 O'Day 272 but not the LE, from a party in Dennis and the guy helped him get it through the Canal to Marion. My friend asked me to help him sail it down from Marion to Mount Hope Bay near the mouth of the Kickamuit River in Bristol RI to his mooring.
I'm pretty sure that the mainsheet came off the traveler over the companionway slider to a cheek block on the Starboard side of the cabin top, and back to a rope clutch. The topping lift and reefing control lines, plus a mainsail jack line also came over the cabin. This boat had a tiller and an outboard on the stern and it sailed pretty well with the wing keel.
