Hello Captains: Just wanted to share with you the problem with changing a 35 AMP Alternator to a 40 AMP Alternator on a 10w2 Engine.
The match up seems good HOWEVER, the adjusting bolt located on the Alternator is further right then the old 35AMP What this does is reduced the adjusting bar for intensifying the belt tension. The restriction is because the Casing of the Alternator and the extension bar or tie down bar touches the alternator housing.
So what I did was Cut the under side of the Adjustment Bar and Well there was the clearance need.
