O'DAY 27 bulk head replacement

O,day 27 Brownsville Marina
I may need to replace the starboard main bulkhead in my 1975 O'DAY 27. Has anyone out there done so on a starboard galley 27? How much cabinetry needs to be removed to get at the tabbing and get the bulkhead out? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks, Gene

Have done it on lots of other boats, but don't recall doing it on an O'Boy 27. But, you should be able to look at how it is contructed and start taking stuff apart. Anything screwed to it has to be removed and you have to get to the fiberglass tabbing so you can cut or grind it away to remove the bulkhead. Just do it so you can use the old bulkhead as a pattern for the new wood.

Doing both port&starboard. How are you replacing yours?

Hi tfrench, I have yet too do it. The bulkhead is still very solid around the chain plate. So I am going to put off the job until time and money are both available at the same time. Let's keep this going as there does not seem to be much info in this arena..... Sprega

If it s anything like the ODay 25 and it is attached to the cabinet in the head, you do have take out the screws that attach the cabinet to the bulk head. Also you have screws underneath the starboard seat Finally you may have to deal with the bulkhead being fiberglassed on the hull.
I would suggest just work on getting it out, that only takes time. I would also suggest to look at your port side to see if needs to be replaced, I had to end up doing both.
