Trying to rig O'Day lines on boom and can't remember which ones are which. There are 2 fatter lines and one smaller line. One is the outhaul and two are for reefing the main. We did not think it was rigged correctly when we got the boat and now we are very confused. Any advise for how to find out the proper way to attach these lines?

Lines

Laura - Don't know how your particular boat is rigged, but I would expect the reef lines to be the heavies. The size of the blocks on the boom should give you an idea. There is an O'day 27 in the yard, I'll try to look at it tomorrow. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Internal lines in the boom

I own a 272 which has the sheaves mounted on the end of the boom so that the lines can be led internally through the boom. The reefing line is led through the starboard sheave, through the boom, down to the base of the mast and back through a deck organizer to starboard on the cabintop. The outhaul is led to port through the boom. Originally, it was tied off on a cleat on the mast, but now I have led it aft on the port side of the cabintop to a cleat. Check the deck organizers to see if you can figure out which line goes which way. I have since labelled the line clutches and cleats to help myself and others tell which line goes where. Hope this helps. Tom
