Perfect!
Tim,I have a '78 Oday 27 on SF Bay. I take it out as often as possible and it loves the bay conditions. It is very forgiving and with a good set of sails and a folding prop it can be very competative. It is a fun boat to sail, I single hand a lot and do several single handed races in the bay with great results. I also take it to the Delta every summer. I used to have a Catalina 27 and it was a great boat but I think the O'day is a stiffer boat and handles heavier wind better. The O27 is bigger inside too. Keep an eye out for the lower stansion chainplates that are embedded in the deck. They will get water ingress and will rot the deck core making the lower stansions feel loose and spongy. Mine are like that but I am backing them this season with backing plates and removing the rot, replacing with new marine ply and epoxy. I have never had a problem and have raced in gusts to 45kts, I just want them stronger for piece of mind when I head out the gate. I have done just about everything to this boat in the last 3 years so if you have any questions let me know, I will give you my email address. What boat are you buying? there are not that many on the bay, I know of 5 and 3 are in Vallejo.Good luck Dave'Slipaway'
