Ed,

I have been wanting to check out Good Old Boat. I went to their website and saw that they will send you a free sample issue with no strings attached to view their publication. I really have been wanting to check it out anyway, so it was a win-win for me. Maybe I will get lucky and get the issue with the 26 review.

It's a good magazine. When you first get it, it'll seem a little thin compared to a lot of other magazines out there (and expensive), but they don't have nearly as many advertisers, so most of the magazine is content.

I actually pick this one up at the news stand when it comes out. I really should subscribe, since I do read it from cover to cover. There are usually some pretty good 'how to' articles.

My wife bought me a subscription to Cruising World (where $250K boats are considered a good starter boat). I find it very depressing and don't plan to renew it.

I got the free subscription trial, it was really good. I didn't renew because I was already buying so many how too books that my wife was giving me the evil eye. But I think i will go online and subscribe. Maybe I will get the May, June issue. It is great. No advertisements. And down to earth.
I do like the cruising world website, and I like Sail, because they make for good daydreaming. I would like to be able to go to those exotic locations someday......

I got my free issue of Good Old Boat today. Damn nice mag and I got the issue with the O'Day 26 review. Only 87 built, I found that interesting. I will subscribe after we get back from our summer cruise. If I ask for one more sailing related item right now, I fear for my well being.
