O'Day 26 Sink drain

Can anyone tell me how to access the seacock that is for the galley sink drain?
I need to inspect and either glass over or install proper seacock. The problem is the floor of the cabinet under the sink only has a small hole cut out for the pipe/hose to pass through. I can barley get my hand in there never mind inspecting it. I suppose I can cut out the floor with a jigsaw. Any Thoughts? Would you glass it over and re-route the sink drain?

Does the sink drain hose exit above or below the waterline? If above, enlarge deck opening for proper inspection/repairs: if below, glass it over and put one in above the waterline. Chief

The thru hull is below the waterline. It is the only below waterline one I can find.
I will need to have access to the inside to remove and glass over the hole.

Those kind of engineering screw ups scare me. I can see no reason to put the outlet below the water line. My sink outlet is probably 8" above the waterline. I will even measure it for you if you want as our boats are about the same size. Chief

The layout of the 26 appears to be very close to the 25 with the galley sink just off center under the companionway. On my 25 there is a small door next to the steps which allows me to put one arm in to turn off or on the through hull valve, let alone work on it.
If it is a gate valve (garden hose type valve) it is original and should be replaced with a ball valve so you can easily tell if it is open or closed.
Your right, the hole in the cabinet bottom seems impossibly small to work with and I think the cabinet bottom is too close to the hull to take a saber saw to it. A multi tool vibrating saw would work and there is a thread here where another owner of a 25 did just that.
I took the easy way out.
My yard replaced the through hull and valve in less than 1 hr for under $150 and did it with that impossibly small hole.

The head sink drain is above the water line but only by a few inches. If you look closely at my avator pic, you can see the white dot in the bottom blue stripe in line with the mast. I doubt if there is 6" of drop from the bottom of the sink to the exit.
The way the galley is laid out I see no easy way to run the drain line for the galley sink to an above water position and maintain a good slope.

I was able to cut out enough to have access. The backing plate was rotten. I removed the whole rig. I am going to glass in the hole today. I would rather not have anything below the waterline. The whole thru hull was in bad shape. I will put a bucket under the sink if I cannot re-route to above waterline. I did find the transducer for the depth sounder. It is well forward (under the V Berth) It appears to be in good shape from the outside of the hull. I think I'm going to leave it. The sink thru hull was bronze and the seal seemed ok. I have not looked to see if there is access to the transducer under the V berth. Also...Does anyone know where the icebox drains? I cannot see where....thanks all

Here are some photos. There is clearance for jigsaw blade but not a lot of room to maneuver saw. I will clean it up later with proper tools. I just need to get the bottom done to launch.

Nice job getting that out and wow, it was in bad shape.
If you want to get rid of that transducer there are types that shoot thru the hull so no hole to worry about for that.
On my 25 there is a storage bin under the v berth cushions. Pull out the bin and you should have access to the forward hull area.
My transducer is in the lazarette and shoots through the hull.

Good thing you caught that problem! How about a container with small auto bilge pump for the sink drain?
