Hi All, I'm looking for a rudder for O'Day 26. If you have one that you'd like to part with please let me know. Also good advise how to make one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Andrew

I bought one from rudy at d&r marine cost I think was 1200.00 maybe less. call him .I also have a 26 1985 and I gotta tell you it went right on fit the gudgeons perfect and I went out sailing .

What happened to the original?

Well that's the part I wonder about also, It was a saturday afternoon and I was all geared up to go out sailing , so i went home to pack up a few essentials food, beer and some non beer bevs. I looked out the west side of my house and man out of nowhere this real quick storm came up so i decided to sit the storm out and go out after for calm sea breezes that follow a summer storm. About an hour later I headed down loaded up the dink and paddled out , as I approached i noticed the stern looked different. Not relly looking carefully until I tied up that's when it hit , I was disappointed to say the least.The next day I had a diver out there no luck, I dove at low tide myself no luck. A few days later I had a friend go out in his clam rig he looked and grappled the area, no luck. I assume that what happened is that when this storm came in either the boat hit bottom and the rudder and tiller all let go or very possibly the welds on the pintles let go because they were still in the gudgeons were they belong. I believe the tiller ws tied off properlyso the rudder and tiller assembly was not floppin around back there. I can tell you this I was not a happy camper, we lost about 5 weeks of summer sailing. We used the boat as a float for while and occasionally would motor around w/out the tiller for steerage.
