Oday 25 Sail Specs

We want to replace our Main and Genoa sails, however we cannot seem to find the specs for the size. Could someone make this process easier for me and give me the demensions and specs from the original outfitted boat? Our boat is a lovely Oday 25 (1976). Thank you. Kathy

Measure old sails first

Kathy,I replaced my 110% jib with a 135% last year and went through the same process you are now. I started here at Odayowners at the boat specification pages. Then I checked local sail lofts and the internet. Most good lofts will have the size specification information you need by just telling them the boat make, model and year. I went with cruisingdirect.com for several reasons and would return to them again. Good Luck

Before you buy....

Make sure you specify tall rig or centerboard. There is a considerable difference in sail measurements. Good luck....Gary

Measuring

Hi Kathy -There are several places you can buy sails for your boat, whether through a local loft or online based on published rig data for your boat. However, you'll want measurements for your boat in any case (regardless of whether you do it or a sailmaker does). You can get a quote for sails made by Doyle right here from the chandlery at this site (see Related link below), but you'll still be asked to provide measurements. They all look alike, but it's best to measure to prevent problems.Best,Trevor

Get it measured!

We just got new sails for our boat last year from doyle (great sails). The boat was still in my driveway, and the mast was not up. The sail maker came out to my house, measured the mast, the boom, checked the track sizes in the boom and mast, and took some measurements off of the deck for hardware placement. The sails fit perfectly. He double checked the measuremetns against the the boat's specs, and double checked where necessary.Mike GordonOverkillWaukegan, IL
