Hey I was wondering where the water goes from the melted ice in the cabin icebox? Does it just empty into the bilge? Also where does the water go when you run the two sinks? Im thinking that would def be too much water to just emty into the bilge?

on my 84 oday 26, the ice box drains into the sink drain hose that exits through the hull below the sink, i have a seacock on mine. my forward sink drains into its own through hull just below the waterline. My cockpit cooler drains into aft drain for the cockpit, (called a scuboard?)

ok so I figured out where everything drains except for the aft sink...pretty much the same setup..the cockpit cooler drains into the aft drain..the cabin cooler drains into the bilge..the forward sink drains into its own through hull at the waterline(visible from outside)..now where does my aft sink drain?? theres a hose that goes directly from the sink straight down..not sure where it goes from there..I cant see anymore visible through hulls on the boat other than the forward sink...where could the missing through hull be? under the waterline? not sure I like that.sounds risky having an underwater through hull....I guess when I pull the boat in a couple of weeks I will find out..

Yep, you'll see that it goes through the hull. Common practice on most boats.

correction for my above comment, my cooler does not drain to the sink, it drains to the bilge.

Mine both drain to a thru hull directly below the sink.

just pulled the boat out of the water today...yup the through hull for the forward sink drain is directly underneath the boat...not sure I like that..what actually keeps the water from rushing in? Is it positive pressure kind of like when you turn a cup under water the top half is still filled with air? what are the dangers of having underwater through hulls?

what keeps the water level out of your boat can be better ilistrated be sticking a drinking straw into a cup, the water inside the straw will be the same level as the water outside the straw. so if the drain of your sink is not below the level of the waterline then the water outside the boat will not come up through the drain
