Hello,What size (h.p.)outboard do you use on your O'day 25? Are you satisfied with its performance or would you go larger or smaller. Thanks,Rick"Tiny Dancer"
Rick -There are a couple of O'day 25's around here, all with 8hp (well one has an inboard). I have been aboard one in a decent chop and it did the job well, but I wouldn't want anything smaller.Long, or extra-long shafts are pretty much required to avoid cavitation in chop, though.Justin - O'day Owner's Web
If your motor is hung off the stern of your boat, I agree that the 8 HP will do the job. One important factor is motor weight...the lighter the better. Unless your going to do alot of motoring, i suggest you stick with a 2 cycle engine. The Johnson/Everude 8 HP will do a good job, its about the lightest in its HP class. Your will need the longest shaft (20"). The 4 cycles are great, except they are heavier.
I was wondering if you could give me some input as to where on Carlyle would be a good home for the Oday 25 I just purchased? email me at jbuhner@effingham.net if it is not too much trouble.Thankyou
