Does anyone know what the diameter and lengths are for both the Jib and Main halyards on an O'Day 25?

check your sheaves in the blocks to see what they can handle, the larger the halyards, the easier on the hands and easier to grip. while your boat may have come with one size, what you decide to use is your choice as long as it fits the blocks. racers like small for less wind resistance, cruisers want easier to handle sizes. your choice.

halyard length
forgot length, gen about twice the mast height plus amount to lead from mast to cockpit if singlehanding. if worried, get some cheap walmart heavy string check out length before ordering new halyards.

my 28 carries 3/8 sta-set for both main and genny my old 22 carried 5/16 sta set for both halyards. so probably either size or will be fine.

Just measured mine, oday 26
The Main and Jib halyards measured 65 feet. This is on a Oday 26, should be close to your 25.

5/16 x 65 feet works for both main and jib haylards. If you lead them back to the cockpit that may vary. 1/4 is tough on the hands and 3/8 is overkill. I like the 5/16 and the strenght of 5/16 will never come close to the loads incured. Themast is 30 feet tall and that gives you 5 feet to play with. r.w.landau
