I just purchased a 1976 O'Day 25. The labels on the electrical switch panel are unreadable. Rather than trace the wires, I figured I'd just ask here what the order of the switches might normally be.

Hi Jerry; My 1976 has the original panel. The top switch is Running lights, next one down is Cabin lights. One of the other three was for the Compass light, which does not currently work. The remaining two are not wired or labeled. Hope this helps & good luck with your new O'Day Corey S/V Donna Lynn

Futile attempt
Jerry, I tried to trace the wires when I pulled the panel on my '76 but it was just a huge mess of pasta!! Everything was tri-spliced to everything else. Mine was also different from Coreys so you may just have to flip switches and watch for lights
I ended up cutting all wires from the panel and starting fresh. My biggest complaint about the electrical panel is that it is right next to the pendant line which splashes water near the connections and fuses. That was a major source of corrosion on my original wiring. -Gerard

When I bought my 25 Oday the seller remarked casually that some of the wiring could stand to be redone. This was an understatement of epic proportions. I also suggest starting over. Then and only them will you know for sure it's been done correctly and how it's done. We are here if you need help with the project. As a side note older boats were never really equipped for all the electronic doodads that we think we're going to need.

my 76 has
Running lights, next one down is Cabin lights then blower, deck light and then anchor light. It seems like there is one I am forgeting? The wiring looks like a birds nest in mine also. Rewiring is on my next years to do list. The blower switch will be moved for sure. It needs to be closer to the cockpit.
