I just purchased a 75 ODAY 25 CB, the cable line is located in center of the boat, in a post that also is used as a table support. I have look at many model ( pictures only ) and this post appear only in the 75 models ? .... Where is it located in other models...

The O'Day 25 from inception went thru numerous changes to finally it became the O'Day 26 in 1984.
The centerboard cable then pendant was orignally in the cabin, then put into a pipe to the cockpit. And until its final location, it had at least one other intermediate exit location.
So, the shape of the latter bilges was changed to allow for a turning block in the centerboard trunk so that the line exited to the metal tubing parallel with the cabin sole. Then it turned without aid of block toward vertical to cockpit floor.
So the question is from the present thru hull can the line be turn horizontal with aid of turning block? So that the line feeds into a tube as in later models and then led to the cockpit?

I'm almost certain that you could convert the cable over to a braid line. The centerboard on your 25 is made of fiberglass and very similar to the later model O'Day 25s and 26s where the pendant line leads into the cockpit. I'm not sure about how the braid can be terminated to the board. Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine could fill you in on that.

I believe that with a little thought and planning, you could devise a way to operate the centerboard without having to go down below by using sheaves and cheek blocks maybe. Enjoy this boat.

Replacing the cable with line is very possible (might need to use Spectra or other high-tech line due to space considerations on hte winch). However, to convert to cockpit control is not as easy! I suppose that you could run the line vertically thru a small tube from the post to the cabin top (unfortunately making it impossible to fold the table) then through a thru-deck block and aft to the cockpit, a lot of bigger boats use that type of system. The later 25s and the 26 had the CB pendant attached further aft (ie: closer to the lower end of the CB) and that made the routing of the pendant to the cockpit easier, basically an almost straight pipe from CB trunk to cockpit, the pipe was angled aft but I don't think there was much of any bends.
The 1975 models 25 and the early 1976 models had the post in the cabin, this was the same system used on the 1971-74 O'DAY 23.
