I am refitting on older fourwheel flat bed trailer to haul my Oday 25 out. The prior owner had set the base and had rough set the side rails, but he did not know where to set the bow riser. As the tongue weight of the rig can really make a difference with safety of the tow, can anyone tell me how far back from either the point of the bow or the forward most part of the keel plate the Center of Gravity is. Bow Roller placement
Bruce, For what it's worth - the bow roller on my trailer is set at 54" above the low point or where the ballast-keel (center board bulkhead) rests on the trailer. It was set there by some previous owner who, I'm guessing, had the trailer made for the boat. Fair winds, Tom

Bow roller stanchion placement
Bruce, You are probably going to need to float the boat on to the trailer so that the keel is directly over the two axles. Then bring it up on a level spot, unhook the trailer, and use a scale to get the proper tongue weight which is a percentage of the total boat weight. If it's too tongue heavy you would have to back it down the ramp and let the boat float back a few inches. I was able to use four sailboat stands under the stern of my 222 and a hydraulic jack in front of the keel from the ground, to do this when I bought my new Long Mfg trailer. Considering the weight of your 25, I think that it would be best to back it into the water if you can. I used my boat stands to do this on my friend's 1986 O'Day 26 and the hull flexed a little from the stands. My stands aren't really made to carry a lot of weight, but I know that they can lift my boat because I've done it a few times. I'm not exactly sure what the percentage is supposed to be, but it seems like between 7 and 10%. I was able to use a bathroom scale on my trailer tongue and got about 111 LBS. Good luck. Joe
