Yes' it is that time of year. I am modifying my trailer for my "78" O'Day 25. I am changing the platform that the keel rests on.I need to know the widest width of the keel. I hope someone has their boat out of the water because I really don't want to dive to measure it. Thanks r.w.landau

Need a day or so

My 25 is sitting on its trailer at the moment, I'll try to measure it for you in the next couple of days if I can. Will generally depend on how crazy life gets. Hope your not in a rush! Ed G.

Got it

The maximum width at the bottom of the keel is 10.25" on my 25. But it tapers upwards toward the hull a bit so the width at the top (where keel meets the hull) is probably closer to 11 or 12 inches. Hope this helps. Ed

O'day 25 c/b keel

I don't know the measurement you are referring to but I am currently having a trailer built by MARINE CRADDLE SHOP in Toronto Ontario. You can find them on the internet. I have a question for you; how do you take out the center board. I have just purchased a 1982 25' O'day good luck!

I would post this seperately as a question. I sure would like to see some photos or even sketchs of the center board removal. r.w.landau

If your 25 is like my 23 . . .

then it should not be a problem. I just removed the CB from my 1980 Oday 23. My boat has a shoal keel which I assume yours has also. Raise the boat on a lift so you can get to the bottom of the keel. Toward the forward part of the keel, on the bottom , there are two screws on each side. Unscrew these and remove the metal plates. The plates are holding wedges in place. I had to pry the wedges out. (They were held in place by some sort of sealant.) You do need to have someone support the CB. When you remove the wedges, the CB will drop down. The wedges are holding up a nylon dowel which is the front pivot of the CB. In talking to Rudy, from O'Day, I found out my CB is not original. It has plywood in it. Oh well. Good Luck, David
