Just bought a 240 and the cabin table in down level with the seats. I'd like to raise the table into a dining position, but I can't see how to do it. Underneath the table is a grey piece of metal surrounding the pole, with various threaded screw holes. Am I missing anything here? How do I keep the table from sliding down the pole to the floor? I had an O'Day 240 for 14 years (moved up to an O'Day 302 last summer). It's a great boat. The table on my 240 had a sleeve around the mast compression post under the bottom of the table. I suspect that's the grey metal under your table. To raise the table, you turn and loosen the sleeve and then raise the table (I had to work it up or down -- it was a tight fit). When the table is in the postition you want, you tighten the sleeve to keep it in place. Good luck. Hope this works. Have fun with your great boat.

O'Day 240 Cabin Table
I had a 240 for several years and found that the table support system sometimes became sticky, having much friction to raise or lower the table. The problem was alleviated by rubbing a cake of soap up and down the mast compression post. Also, on my boat, the clamp arrangement that supported the table was somewhat "floppy", making the table rather unstable. A hole through the mast compression post, drilled just below the clamp when the table was raised, allowed for a long S.S. bolt to be passed below the clamp and thereby adding some stability to the table.
