oday 23 whisker pole info needed

is there a specific whisker pole needed for the 1980 23? took the boat out for the first time coming in to the harbor is usually downwind for quite a ways, would like to not have the jib slapping around.

If there ever was a specific pole, it is long gone to the ash heap of history. You can now buy something much stronger and lighter than was ever available thirty years ago anyway. I have attached a parts list for the 1980 Oday 23 from the manufacturer at the time (Bangor Punta). You can see that a 10' spinnaker pole and hardware was an option back then. Whisker poles are adjustable, and I am no expert, but I think there are models that will lengthen from about 6 feet to 11 feet. They probably come smaller, and I know they come larger, but that size sounds about right to me for an Oday 23.
