O'Day 23 Sink Pump

Anyone have experience repairing the (manual) faucet on the galley sink? On my O'Day 23, the sink pump seems to be broken (it doesn't draw pressure). I acquired the boat two years ago, the PO (a buddy) said the sink pump was "unfixable." He persuaded me to leave the water tank empty.

Of course, this is no great inconvenience for day sailing; I carry several gallons of fresh water stowed in plastic containers in the cabin. But I want to start overnighting, and it would be really nice to have a functional galley sink.

This is all very new to me, so please pardon my ignorance. But I hope to learn fast. Any suggestions regarding what to do, or how to start a repair job on this? As always, I am very appreciative of the assistance!

For drinking and cooking water, I would continue to take bottled water. What have you got, a foot pump? Consider replacing it with a small 12V electric pump and fixture. Check the sink discharge is open.

Is it a manual one? Try looking for a simple rv hand pump. I replaced mine with a Liesure Components 131, a very simple pump. Works perfectly well for what we want, which is for quick hand or dish washing. We use bottled water for drinking.

I found the exact replacement from the RV supply houses. I think it was original because the footprint was the same.
