O'day 23 Owners Manual

My husband and I are refurbishing an O'day 23, and are very new to sailing. We are looking for an owners manual or something that will show us what the boat is supposed to look like and the parts that were originally on it. We pretty much have an empty hull and a pile of pieces...all of which need work.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Hey There !!!

This is my 3rd year with my O'Day 23. The only place I found information, or an owners manual, was right here on this web site, under boat information. I printed the covers off on heavy card stock paper, and the rest on regular paper, then stapled them together in book form and put it in a folder on the boat. I wasn't completely sure about the rigging, so the diagrams helped me alot.

What year is your O'DAY 23? I ask because the 1971-74 O 23 is not the same as the 1977-85 O 23. I have a manual for the 1977-85 O'DAY 23, but it really won't show the interior (although it does have a layout diagram and I can include scanned brochure copies). The 1971-74 models have a different layout, I have a 1973 brochure scan that shows that layout, and I have a copy of the 1971 "manual" which really deals mostly with how to raise/lower the pop-top.

For information of any parts that you may need, and for general advice, you can't beat a call to Rudy at D&R Marine (508) 644-3001. He was the Parts Dept. Manager at O'DAY from 1973 to 1989 and now has a small shop selling O'DAY parts. He has a web site, www.drmarine.com but for best service it is best to call him, or visit on a Saturday morning if you are close to Assonet, MA. D&R is located about 10 miles or less from the last O'DAY Plant in Fall River, MA.
