My first Boat. I recently rec'd (by gift) a '74 ODay (23'). Would anyone know where I might obtain a copy of an owners manual. Also: It has been stored for several yrs. and the lack of attention is apparent. Structurally (glass/wood) it seems OK, but the rigging and ropes look beat. I'd like to replace them but am unsure as to what rigging is req'd. Will the owners manual indicate? Is there a vendor anyone would recommend in the RI vacinity?

Where I went

Thanks to Don Evans via my own 10/31 inquiry about manuals I went to D & R Marine (ask for Rudy) @ 508-644-3001. As it turns out he was the materials manager for O'Day for several years and ended up buying (I think!) O'Day after it went down the second time. He had a copy of the 1981 manual I am looking for and the price was only $5. Free, huh?? and I thought I got a good deal for what I paid!

O'Day 23 rigging

I just had the standing and running rigging on my O'Day 23 replaced at New England Yacht Rigging in E. Greenwich R.I. (401-884-1112). They picked up the mast last week (after the boat was hauled), did the work in their shop and called yesterday to say the work was completed and they were returning the mast to the boat. This is a great time of year to do this work - before the Spring rush. My O'Day 23 is a 1973 model year and I was told that O'Day never supplied an owner's manual. I could sure use a manual, this is my first boat and would be very helpful.
