Another newbie question....
I have my 1977 23-2 sailing well now after many repairs in the past 12 months. The pain in the but is the boom slot. Where I slip the forward boom fitting into the 4" x 1/2" gap in the trailing edge of the mast..... If I take the mainsail down or put it up the slugs all want to pop out of the slot. I see 2 stainless hex-cap screws there threaded in (no corosion). Is there a specific piece machined to fit or can I make up my own. I am assuming there is a screw on metal or plastic fitting to attach so the slugs don't pop out when the sail comes down. Anyone have any pics of theirs. Any help will really make the total difference!!!
Thank you so much
John

or a Mast Gate, which narrows the slot so the slugs do not fall out.

The fact that there are a couple of screws there already suggest it had one at one time.

If you remove the sail after each trip, then the track stop Indy suggested would be easier. If you leave the main on the mast and boom, the mast gate would probably be best. Anything you make up to narrow the slot so the slugs stay in will work.
