O'Day 222 RUDDER

I'm in the process of ordering a new rudder (Idasailor) for my 1984 222 and am curious about the length of the rudders of other 222 owners. My transom is 30" and keel is 20". What is the recommended length of rudder below the keel?

I just measured mine (original rudder) and it is approximately 36 inches below the waterline.

The rudder blade on your O'Day 222 should hang down approximately 33" from the bottom center of your transom. My rudder blade hangs down about 32" because I lowered the pintles on my rudder head years ago to raise the head for my O'Day 25 tiller.
