Oday 222 Wauconda
Are there any Oday 222 owners out there with pictures of proper rigging of the mainsail? We recently purchased a 1984 Oday 222, but there was no owners manual or documentation showing how to properly rig the sails! The person who sold us the boat assured us everything was correct, but the sail does not easily go up the mast and it does not go all the way to the top. Any help is appreciated.

Main Sail

What kind of Main Sail do you have? Neil Pride? Does the Main Sail have sail slides on the luff? What kind of mast and boom is on the boat? Z-Spar? Dyer? What condition is the Main Halyard in? Have you checked the sheave at the top of the mast and the mast track? You may have to take your mast down and visually check it. Some Main Sails have no slides on them. The sail's bolt rope fits into the round sail groove in the mast. If this is the case, and the sail is in good condition, you'll want to have sail slides installed on the Luff and the foot of the sail. It will make all the difference in the world. Joe
