Thinking about using a genny on my boat and wondering if I need to install new tracks for it, and where to place them. Will the stock travelers on the cabin top be positioned right or will I need to install new ones mounted on the side decks?

My 1986 O'Day 222 came with a Genoa and I think it was a 125%. So you should be able to use your existing tracks and cars provided you don't go too big with the Genoa. The O'Day company left the winches and tracks off my boat per the dealer's request, so I really don't have any experience with the tracks set up on the cabin. At the time, I wanted the boat to be easy to single hand and I didn't want to have to fill in any bolt holes on the cabin top. Unless you're planning on doing some racing, I'd get a 125% Gennie and try it out and if you don't like it, move the winches, tracks&Cars to the combings. I would also add a large clam cleat behind each winch for snubbing the sheet off. I guarantee that you'll like them better than jam cleats or cam cleats.
Thanks Joe! I saw the pics of your setup but thought the tracks looked pretty far aft to be used with the cabin mounted winches. The sail is from a different boat and needs a minor alteration to fit. It's about two feet longer at the foot, Ill have to hoist it up and see just how the sheets look and proceed from there.
A rule of thumb to go by is; If you were to draw an imaginary line from the center of the luff to the clew of the sail, the sheet coming off the car on that track wants to be on that same plain in order to get the proper sail shape for the foot and leech of the Gennie.
