Hey guys any idea what a new set of sails for an O'day 22 would cost ball park figures? Where should I go to get sails made? Don

500 dollars for new sails?

Do you think 500 dollars for slightly used sails is a bad deal? A main, 2 genoas? Don

New main sail for O'day 22

hi don, I purchased a new main sail for my O'day 22 masthead rig a little over a year ago from www.porpoisesailing.com in Sarasota FL for $400. plus tax & shpg. I think it was made in Taiwan & had one set of reefs & 4 battens and made of 6 oz DAcron. Last summer I sailed on Lake Julian in Asheville NC, then trailed to Big Pine Key & sailed there 2 weeks. This spring 2008 I trailed to Punta Gorda, FL and sailed on Charlett Harbor for 2 months where it held up very good in the strong spring gulf winds. I need to write a short story on that expirence. Looks like I need a spell checker. I was well pleased with this new main sail and the person at Porpoise Sailing Services was very nice to work with. David S

Keep Asheville Weird!

Hey David! Don't want to hijack this thread, but I noticed that you're from Ashevegas. I grew up in Hendersonville; didn't think there were any sailors around those parts. Anyway, I've got an OD22 in the triangle area. If you can ever make it out this direction I'd love to go to Jordan Lake with you! My 22 came with brand new Rolly Tasker sails. These were cut to order and included a main and a 155 RF genoa. They are beautiful... so crisp! In any case, I wouldn't buy used sails unless you could see them/hold them in your hand. You could end up with some baggy bedsheets. Just my .02 Cheers,
