Oday 22 rudder

Could anybody tell me about how much a stock rudder should weigh for a '78 Oday 22?
The one that came with the boat is about 40 pounds (Heavy). There's no gelcoat on mine, only paint and under that, laminate. The part in the water is very thick, maybe 2" at the thickest place
Does this sound right or did PO repair it somehow or make a new one?
The shape and fit look like ones in pictures I've seen

I have a 74 O'Day 22 and the rudder weighs about 40 lbs. There is gel coat on the entire rudder with bottom paint on the lower half. It is the original rudder.

Thanks Pete. I found out what is under all the paint on mine. For some strange unknown reason, the former owner painted polyester resin all over the entire rudder!! Under it is the gel coat. Why this was done (as with many other mysterious operations on the boat) is beyond me, but I sanded as much off as i could and my only recourse is to use a hi quality paint up top and of course anti fouling on the bottom
I'm glad to know it's a real Oday rudder, anyways
