Haven't been on a sailboat since the late 70's, then on a 38 cutter and a Lido for a little bit.Correct words will be tough to come by, I'll add farmer john's description when I think I need to. Took the opertunity to lease an O'Day 22 from a friend for the summer. (I pay fixed costs, he gets to sail with me). Long story even longer. I'm not all that sure he has the boat rigged correctly. I'll be looking around for the chance to take a few photo's of one rigged up, but they're few and far between in the sagebrush.Would I be better off going one topic per post? I'll start off doing it this way.I did a search of the archives before posting. Found some info on the 23/25? foot boat. I do have a copy of the original 4 or 5 page pamphlet that came with the boat. Not much help.Standing rigging. Spreaders, stays, forestay and backstay seem to make sense. Not banjo tight, but they don't slop around either. This is about all I think I'm comfortable with on the boat.Mast. Foot of mast hooks with a horizontal pin. When up and rigged, I don't see anything that would keep the foot of the mast from being kicked loose of the pin, and off the deck plate. No locks, no plug/socket sort of thing at the bottom of the mast, just the standing rigging, down pressure from the rigging and faith.
