Hello. I have a 1981 22ft. With Neil Pryde mainsail. It takes three battens: 24, 24, and a 30. I would like to know how wide they should be and whether yours are tapered.

I'm guessing that a 22' boat would have 1" battens. Since the O'day is not a racing boat, I would not expect to find tapered battens, either.
Not the definitive answer you were looking for, but if you measure the pocket width on the sail, you should be able to quickly determine if 1" would work. Looking at what Sailrite has to sell it goes 5/8", 1", 1 1/4". 1 1/4" is pretty wide for a 22 footer...
