O'Day 20 Old Lyme
Hello:

I just purchased an O'Day 20. It was an auction so I was unable to speak to the owner about the rigging.

The boat was designed without a traveler so I am confused on how to tack this boat. The main sheet seems to clip only to the port side of the boat.

Can anyone send me pictures of how the main sheet is configured? My email address is dmusgrave99@yahoo.com

Thanks

Derek

There are several good pictures right here on this site under the boat info>photos section. It appears the O'day 20 uses the configuration common to boats this size: mainsheet tackle attaches to a triangular stainless steel plate on the backstay.

The 20 used one of 2 different mainsheet setups:
1973 models used a setup of 2 blocks, one each side of stern and a double block on boom end, mainsheet cleated to a camcleat attached to block on one corner of stern. I think some 1974 models also had this setup.
During the 1974 Model Year, as far as I can tell, O'DAY switched over to the setup used on other O'DAYs (19, 192, 22,23, 222) with a traingle-plate on hte backstay. See pics of both below.
