O'day 20 railing on stern, was this a option or have these been installed later, and did you build them or can you buy somewhere, any pictures?

I don't know that I would necessarily recommend this way of doing it, but a PO of our boat made up a stern railing out of galvanized plumbing pipe and fittings, all 3/4". It is then covered in padded Sunbrella or similar high quality fabric, nicely sewn. It is very sturdy and functional, and looks pretty good. It could be made very cheaply, with only a pipe threader and bender, but a downside is that some rusting has occurred, despite heavy paint, and that is in a freshwater environment, but it must have lasted at least ten years. Another consideration is that the cost of fabric and sewing might go a long way toward paying for aluminium or ss railing!

Anyway, here's a picture:

Congrats @rgrgoode on your new to you boat. When you get the chance share a picture of her with us. Welcome to the Forum, in general, and to the Oday Owners section.

Trailer boats have a variety of features some original, often others added by previous owners. There are logically places to buy OEM parts. There are also ways to build parts as good or perhaps better than the OEM designs. It is all about your imagination and interests.

While I am not a big user of galvanized plumbing on a boat, I did have a 1" stainless stern pulpit built by a specialist company that included seats in the corners at a cost of about $600. I would suspect there is a business in Iowa bending stainless to enhance the rails around all the pontoon boats that are made there. With a drawing and some measurements you could design exactly the concept you need and have them produce an eye catching serviceable stern pulpit to meet your needs.

I would call that quite a deal! A 20' sailboat at our marina was recently damaged by an idiot in a wakeboat, and repair to a simple ss stern pulpit was quoted at $3200 of our Canadian pesetas, or about $2400 of your Yankee dollars.
