I have just bought a O'Day 20 that has no electrical system except for the actual bow, stern & mast light fixtures. I need to install a system want a to add a bilge pump also. Does anyone have an orginal or appropiate electrical system diagram. A one line drawing of a proven system would be great. I have never done this but do not consider it a challege if I have a plan to follow, something that I know will do the job when it is done. Thanks Ruben

Installing electrics

Ruben - I will try to get access to a scanner to send you the plan to a very simple but useful system I have installed in several boats. If you send me your snail-mail address I could photocopy it and send it to you. Probably the first of next week since the plan is on my boat at the moment. I would strongly suggest you grab a copy of Don Casey's Sailboat Electrics Simplified before you get going. As you suggest wiring isn't hard but it does need to be done correctly. You can find it at the link below or perhaps a local bookstore or marine supplier. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Same situation for O'Day 23

Hi, I'd be very interested in seeing how you do things. Cause my 23' has the same, I have bow and stern lights but no batteries and what seems to be a jumble of wires yet no electrical panel, no grounding nothing. I'd be highly interested in hearing how you handled your situation. I'll be making the improvements on the electrical system on my 23' over the winter, while the boat is in indoor storage. Let me know how things come along for ya Thanks Mark R.
