Hello, I just purchased an O'day 20. I am concerned that there is a fishfinder installed and I can find no drain plug location. Wonder if they placed the depth/fishfinder where the drain plug goes? Can anybody tell me where the drain plug is on an O'day 20?
Thanks
bob

There's a drain plug?

I have an 1974 oday 20 and i have not scene a drain plug. i have a cockpit drain that runs through the cockpit floor next to the cabin opening and drains water via a through hull fitting in the bottom directly below. i also have a drain for the sink that goes out the side, but i don't remember ever seeing a drain plug.

where is the fishfinder installed?

Hello, You are right, no drain plug. Fish finder is on the transom below the water line. I just placed the boat in the water saturday and the bilge is full almost to the floor. Does your bilge fill with water? Do you have a bilge pump? I am thinking it must leak and in many ways I hope it is the fishfinder that leaks.

i have about a 2" hole right below the hatch boards into a space below the floor. i do get some standing water in that space, but never above the hole. (almost looks like a bilge pump could have been placed there at one time.) i believe the water comes from rain around the hatch boards. is this the area you meant as the bilge?

i don't have a bilge pump installed. i do have a hand pump, but i never had enough water to get the hand pump to draw. i have wadded up a sponge to get some of the water out. i have never gotten water above the floor even though the boat is mooring in the open lake and at times it rolls by as much as 45% during high winds.

i would check the cockpit drain hose and it's connection to the through hull fittings, as well as the fitting itself besides the fish finder. (if you need to repair either you will obviously need to have the boat out of the water) if nothing is leaking there, it may just be rain water but something to keep you eye on. let me know how you make out.

Hello, Hey thanks again. I was surprised to see water below that whole. I did not go sailing so I am not sure if the water will come out to the floor. However, I will rest assured that water below the floor is not a sign of significant problems.
