I have a 1986 Oday 192 and am concerned about the mast foot. One of the flanges that is used to secure the mast to the baseplate is cracked. I would like to replace it but am having trouble finding a source. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. I'll try DR on Monday. I don't believe it is the tabernacle that I am concerned with as I think that is the part that attaches to the boat. The part I'm concerned with is installed at the base of the mast and connects to the tabernacle when the mast is raised.

There are 2 different masts for the 192. There the ellipsoid cross section Dwyer with external halyard, and there's the Z-Spars, which has a flat aft face along the mast slot, and internal halyards.

The Dwyer uses either one of these 2 hinges: https://www.dwyermast.com/items.asp?cat1ID=40&cat1Name=Hardware&familyID=18&familyName=Hinges Sorry, I don't have the measurements of which one, probably the smaller I guess. (My boat is not handy to measure.)

If you have a Z-Spars mast, the mast plug is shaped much like cooling fins on a motorcycle cylinder. This is so a sheave can be mounted in the foot, so the halyard can come down the spar and out the bottom. Based on my friend's boat, it is a Z145 mast section. They do not make the old style finned mast plug anymore, so you will get a new-style kit from www.rigrite.com, which uses a different deck plate into which screws single blocks. Deck plate is PN: Z-1100A. And there will be a new mast plug to fit the plate, PN: Z-1397. You'll need Z-250 turning blocks to screw into the deck plate. You'll have to cut exit holes in the mast for the halyards, and put either a plastic or metal exit plate on: http://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Zspar/Z-Exit_Plates.php There is a plastic spacer block included with the step kit (you should call Rig Rite to make sure you get the whole kit) so be sure and prepare to get 4 longer SS bolts to go down through the deck into the compression post. I prefer 316 stainless from McMaster-Carr.

Sometimes, I haven't had the best warm and fuzzy feeling when I have called Rig Rite. However, if you need the mast step part for a Z-Spars mast, and you call them with these part numbers, it will probably go smoothly because they will know you know what you're talking about. After my friend dropped his mast and broke the foot the SECOND year in a row, and had to order a new mast plug after ordering the full kit the year before, his phone call to them when very smoothly because he had part number from his first order.

I haven't had any trouble calling Dwyer. Had a pleasant discussion with them once about if my mast was strong enough to deal with asym mounted at the mast head. Of course, they were like "That boat didn't have an asym..." But a PO of my boat had one made by Neil Pryde. Since the uppers don't go to the masthead, I moved the halyard down from the masthead to about 12-18" above the hounds, a much more secure point for a fractionally rigged boat. But I digress.
